DUI / DWI Defense
Cameron Cooper is an experienced DWI lawyer serving the Kansas City, MO area. He focuses most of his practice on defending people facing current charges for Driving Under the Influence in both Missouri and Kansas. Cameron understands these charges (the criminal charge as well as the administrative side) coming from a perspective that few attorneys in either state can match. Acting quickly to have Cameron defend you will give you the chance to avoid the loss of certain evidence, and the immediate suspension of your license, until a thorough investigation can be made. You have as few as 14 days from the date of offense to appeal the administrative case, so time is of the essence.
Narcotics-related crimes present life-changing consequences for those of all ages and all walks of life. This disruption to life, both during the pending case and afterwards, has far-reaching effects. Whenever possible, Cameron seeks to get those charged with drug crimes back to normal sooner than later. Even if no charges have been filed, you should consult with an attorney who understands this area of practice. As with any case, you should hire a defense attorney who will proactively challenge the evidence and engage the prosecution early with your best interests in mind.
Driver’s License Denials, “Hardships,” and Reinstatement
Many attorneys “practice” DUI law. Few understand the entire process from start to finish as well as Cameron. If you have lost your license for 5 or 10 years for DUI, you may be eligible for either a limited driving privilege (“hardship”) license, or full reinstatement of your license. In 2017, changes to Missouri law have made some of those people who were previously ineligible for hardship for 10 years able to drive. Many such cases require a case filed in court, so call Cameron to see if you qualify for hardship or reinstatement.
Most drivers will encounter the “red-and blues” in their rear view at some point in their lives. Before you plead guilty and pay the fine, make an informed decision and explore options that may keep points off your license and moving violations off of your record. Cameron believes that no traffic violation is truly “minor”, and that your should keep points off your license at every opportunity. Your insurance rates or employment could be at stake, especially for commercial vehicle drivers. Cameron has extensive experience in this area of law, and treats all such cases with the attention they deserve.
Does your ticket say “mandatory appearance?” You should hire Cameron to help you keep points and convictions off of your driving record. Most prosecutors will not discuss cases with unrepresented people. Do not roll the dice with your driving history and insurance rates, and don’t go to court without an attorney experienced with driving and Department of Revenue-related license implications. You may not have to go to court at all.
Although Cameron is quickly becoming one of the top Kansas City, MO DWI lawyers, he can handle most all of your legal needs. Including but not limited to:
- Boating While Intoxicated (BWI)
- Driving While Suspended or Revoked (DWS; DWR)
